About This Project

In November, euroMind in Malaga hosted a group of 16 Polish students for 2 weeks. They were carrying out placements as geodetic surveyors with drones.

This placement carried a number of responsibilities for the students. They initially got to know the different options of drone models that exist, as well as the basics of photogrammetry and how it works. They additionally learnt how to plan flights according to requirements. Furthermore, they became familiar with applying image processing, and carrying out real data collection and obtaining photos from the drones for further editing. Finally, due to the large number of tasks that the students were faced with, they learnt how to budget their time and divide up large tasks into manageable chunks.

On their placements, the trainees also had the opportunity to explore more of the South of Spain. The first of these experiences was a tour of Malaga, where the trainees could see Malaga’s oldest and most important parts (such as the Roman Theatre), and explore its history. Next, they participated in a Tapas night which allowed them to experience a little bit of the typical Spanish sociable atmosphere while trying some Andalusian specialties. A bowling afternoon gave the trainees the chance to relax and have fun. Furthermore, the trainees got to experience the Malaga Sea Life Oceanarium, an amazing opportunity to find out more about life of underwater creatures such as sharks, turtles, seahorses and many more. Continuing the day trips, the group visited Gibraltar where they were able to climb up to the top of the Rock to admire the spectacular views stretching out to Morocco and play with the famous macaques at the top! Finally, a day trip to Ronda afforded the group the beautiful scenery surrounding Ronda including its well-preserved old town which has Arab Baths, defense walls and small churches.

The trainees had an incredible experience in Malaga, and look forward to using the skills and broader cultural experience to their advantage in the future!

PARTICIPANTS’ OPINIONS

Natalia Błahut

Taking part in such practices opened to me a new insight into the profession in the field I was studying and taught me an even more attractive one. I am convinced that a program organized so professionally is needed for students to demonstrate their capabilities and gain new experience. I am very happy that I had the opportunity to spend these practices in Malaga in the such form. The program has a very high level and opens up opportunities for young people. I will always remember the time that I have spent in Malaga.

The internships were an amazing experience, meeting the Spanish culture and its language and the landscape of the tourist city. The trip showed me new career opportunities, taught me specialized knowledge and was a test of both Spanish and English. I wish everyone such a trip.
