A group of students from Poland came to Spain to work in field of car mechatronics and computer numerical control operating. We hosted 21 students in Seville, who were doing their internships in different companies. The majority of students chose to work in automobile manufacturers of famous car brands and workshops. Where students could gain new knowledge and skills by doing different tasks, such as:
-Helping to install and replace air-conditioners, align and repair wheels
-Helping to inspect and test new vehicles against damage
-Helping to raise vehicle to a specified level, using hydraulic jack
-Removing and disassembling units such as engines, transmissions, or differentials, to be repaired, using hand tools and power tools
-Lubricating and washing vehicles
-Using diagnostic computers and oscilloscopes in the workplace
-Repairing car body, i.e. welding, brazing, riveting, sheet metal and profiles bonding, assembling and disassembling of car body components and chassis
Other group of students worked in metalworking companies, enterprises aimed at supplying solutions to all the CNC machine control users in the area, producing pieces of high quality for the mechanical gearbox of the different types of car models also specializing in mechanization work and in the development of mechanization projects. Thus, here students were:
– Using counters and applying the knowledge of metrology
– Interpreting plans and technical pictures
– Operating and monitoring machines for cutting, drilling and grinding the metal
– Checking the results of operations and if it is not satisfactory, call the adjuster
– Cleaning, lubricating and carrying out maintenance of the machine
– Operating CNC Machines
– Analysing information derived from technical documentation
Also, few of the students were more interested in learning more about general mechanic services, automotive electricity services, tires, paint, washing, air conditioning, diagnosis, pre-ITV. Working in these companies allowed them to do tasks, such as:
– Locating defects in parts and components of a vehicle
– Selecting and using measurement instruments and diagnostic equipment in vehicles
– Performing basic service and repair activities related to car servicing, i.e.: oil and filter change, defective parts replacement, washing of engine and, other car components
– Car body repairing i.e. welding, brazing, riveting, sheet metal and profiles bonding, assembly and disassembly of car body components and chassis
– Performing maintenance and repairs in accordance with automotive vehicles manufacturer’s technology
– Removing and disassembling units, such as engine, transmission, or differential, to be repaired, using hand tools and power tools.
Moreover, during students stay they were not only working and learning more about cars but also, they could experience Spanish culture. Students had a short and dynamic Spanish language course, Seville tour and also had trips to other cities like Cadiz, Gibraltar, Granada, Malaga, where our tour guides made their trips more enjoyable!
