About This Project

During the spring of 2016, a group of 20 Polish trainees arrived in Seville for a two-week internship. During their stay, they gained knowledge about aircraft mechanics at a technological institute. They were trained to carry out the maintenance of airplanes and helicopters, learnt how to check an engine before take-off and were even allowed to fly! Apart from their practical training, they were also taken on a study visit to an aerial company.

Of course, it was also important for us to show and teach the trainees al about Spanish culture, lifestyle and history. We took the trainees to a bar to taste the typical Spanish tapas during Tapas Night, had them discover the beautiful city of Gibraltar during a day-trip and showed them around the nicest places in Seville.

Despite their busy schedule, the trainees had a great time in Spain and many of them stated they wanted to come back at some point in the future. They saw their internship as a great way of gaining additional knowledge and skills and definitely an asset for their future employment.

PARTICIPANTS’ OPINIONS

Mateusz Gałgański:

‘I had a very useful experience at the host school with helicopters BO105. I was on an airfield where I flew a Cessna 172ER and steered for a crazy pilot. I got to experience the Spanish culture and its environment. I met a lot of interesting and friendly people for example Inma our hostess she is one of the kindest and most cheerful people I have met and our translator Agnieszka on of the best translators I have ever met.’

Paweł Kaczmarek:

‘Thanks to school’s headmaster we had the possibility to visit Alcazar palace and FC Sevilla Stadium. Our practice teachers showed us how to work with an official documentation for helicopters and smaller aircrafts. In my opinion the experience which I had in Sevilla will be useful for me and anybody who wants to continue his career in aviation.’
