About This Project

In April, 20 students from Polkowice in Poland came to Úbeda for an international school exchange project. The students spent time in classes at a local Spanish school, where they worked on ecological projects regarding marine pollution, aluminum recycling and general environmental threats that we are dealing with today. The school part ended with the presentation of projects during a joint session on the last day of the stay in Úbeda. Students working on the topic of aluminum prepared a collection of home decorations and jewelry made of aluminum from, among others, soda cans and coffee capsules. Other students presented the effects of their work in the form of posters, infographics and advertising materials drawing attention to the problem of pollution.

In their free time, students participated in a number of activities related to ecology and local crops and sustainable development. They visited, among others, an organic farm, an olive factory and processing plant, because the region is famous for it. They also played an urban game with their Spanish peers to better integrate and learn about local history.

We hope that the participation in the project was a great experience for the students and they left Spain not only richer in beautiful memories, but also more sensitive to the problems of the modern world.

PARTICIPANTS’ OPINIONS

Zofia Suchodolska

At first I thought that was an English practice camp and I wanted to go to Spain to learn more English. Instead of learning English, to all my confusion, we were doing ecological project. It turned out to be so much fun and I was positively surprised. I really enjoyed it!

Marcin Mularczyk

I went to Spain, because I wanted to broaden my horizons by meeting new people and visiting other countries. I liked very much the dishes that they serve here and the weather here was amazing. Me and my team were working on the topic which was the enviromental problems that we need to face now. My tasks were finding new informations for completing the project and making the online quiz. The thing I will remember until the end of my life will be the taste of the best olive oil that comes from here.
