For two weeks of July, Ubeda hosted 7 geodesy trainees from Poland.
They spent short but intensive time here.
The main goal of the internship was to prepare a complete topographic project of a local park. Trainees had to design, draw, measure and create topographic bases and networks. They calculated different types of coordinates, imported data from EXCEL into AutoCAD and wrote a full report of the project.
Not only did trainees use all their professional knowledge and skills, but also they learned new methods of work and new drafting software.
Trainees were living with host families, what gave them unique opportunity to see the every-day life of a Spanish family. They could try traditional, homemade dishes, participate in friendly and family meetings, they could practice their communication and language skills.
The group took part in a Spanish Guitar Workshop, where they could see the impressive craft of creating instruments and hear the difference between classical and flamenco guitars. They tried to play on different instruments (guitar, piano, saxophone, cajón) and tried to clap in the rhythm of flamenco.
Students went on two trips to see beautiful Spanish city of Cordoba and charming mountain town Cazorla. During the trips they get to know Spanish history and legends, they could see all the most important monuments and enjoy wonderful landscapes.
We hope that the time they spent in Ubeda will stay in their memory for long years and that it will inspire them in their future.
