About This Project

In October 2021, a group of 9 trainees from Šibenik in Croatia came to Seville to take part in a 2 weeks long internship in three different fields: deck cadets, logistics and postal logistics.

Deck cadets were doing their internship in a sailing school belonging to the province of Seville that offers complete training related to recreational and professional sailing. Their main responsibilities and tasks carried out during the work placement were managing the movements of shipping containers in ports & terminals, assisting in different kinds of services provided in ports (telematics, distribution, transport services) as well as monitoring different forms of exploitation of ships.

Postal logistics were working in small bookshops, helping in tasks such as carrying out inventories, processing orders, packaging assorted products, managing the program which deals with shipping to various companies and cooperating in the classification, encoding and signing of products that arrive to the warehouse. The students carrying out their practice in logistics were working in grocery stores. Their main tasks were: moving pallets and boxes to the store with the use of a manual pallet truck, observing the condition of store equipment and successive replenishment of missing products and placing all products in the warehouse.

Besides practicing their future jobs, students also traveled through Andalucia: they visited Cadiz, Matalascañas, Cordoba and Faro. Moreover, they took part in a Football Stadium Tour – Ramon Sanchez Pizjuan. It is the home stadium of Sevilla Fútbol Club, and is named after the club’s former president. They also participated in a Seville city tour.

A trip to Matalascañas, a beach in Huelva, located in the South of Spain on the Costa de la Luz. The marvelous white sand beach belongs to the Doñana nature reserve, an important nature area that can be accessed from here on foot. Doñana National Park is also very famous for one of the largest sand dunes in Europe. Part of this beach is in an urban area, with a pedestrianized seafront promenade, so there are a wide range of hotels and restaurants nearby. The trainees were able to relax, go for a walk, sunbathe and enjoy the summer spirit of this place.

We are sure that students´stay in Seville was the time they will never forget. Hopefully, they have created unforgettable memories, got to know a little bit of Spanish culture and visited some picturesque cities in south of Spain and Portugal.

PARTICIPANTS’ OPINIONS

Šime Stojanović

Town of Seville and other towns where we have been were really beautiful. Everyone that we met here was really friendly and cool. But in the first place I wanna put our practise experience. It is a really small, beautiful place full of great people including our tutor. The most friendly guy I have met in last few years. Also other people that were showing us other things in Puerto Gelves were friendly.

Daniel Aralica

Working and learning was an experience which filled me with immense joy, largely in part due to our mentor, who was a great teacher, but even more importantly, a great friend. The warm, sunny weather, the beautiful scenery, the friendly people, are not all the things that come to my mind when asking myself the question of: “What did I like in Seville?”, but in my rush to experience more of it, I cut the story short and went on smiling through and through as I get to go a little more; In this beautiful place.

Rebeka Pirjak

It was a beautiful experience. I learned a lot about my profession . My tutor was very helpful, kind
and communicative. Also I learned a bit of Spanish at the work. I got to know Spanish culture and
met Spanish people who are very open and cheerful.
