In May 2019, euroMind welcomed a group of 9 Belgian cooks and waiters from Belgium. They came here to spend three weeks working in local companies and developing their professional abilities.
Belgian trainees learned the characteristics of the typical Spanish cuisine. They found out how to organize and coordinate work in the restaurant or in the Hotels. They were mainly preparing the ingredients for consumption or cooking, washing, peeling, cutting fruit and vegetables as well as cutting meat, checking the quality of food, tasting, smelling, punching with utensils, weighing, measuring and mixing ingredients according to recipes and personal judgment with the use of available kitchen appliances and equipment, adjusting the temperature of other kitchen equipment depending on the dishes being prepared, seasoning and cooking meals according to recipes, personal judgment or experience, using different methods (e.g. baking, braising, frying, broiling, roasting and steaming), learning about typical Spanish cuisine and local specialties, serving meals to clients, washing and drying kitchen pots/ utensils and ensuring their proper storage.
The trainees had a chance to visit other andalusian cities like Seville and Cordoba, to try some typical Spanish snacks during Tapas Night, to enjoy cultural activities like Banana Boat, Flamenco show, Boat trip, and also to know more about the Spanish culture and language thanks to the intensive Spanish course held by euroMind team.
