In October 2017, 14 students from Olkusz (Poland) did a formative work experience in Malaga working as Gardeners, Electrician’s assistants, Electronics, Car mechanics and CNC Operators. They developed many skills and learned new ones, carrying out several tasks, such as:
- Unpacking and care for flowers and plants, making bouquets and arrangements based on their knowledge, ideas and design books in order to meet customer requirements, keeping certain minimum stocks of fresh flowers, foliage, plants and various elements through inventory procedures;
- Preparing and installing components of light system by applying appropriate techniques and procedures and supervising the correct functioning of the already existing installations, gathering all needed materials, tools and other working equipment and preparing the worksite, fabricating, dismantling, assembling of utilities industry components, assisting in the installation fo security cameras and antennas;
- Learning to operate testing equipment to diagnose malfunctions and repair electronic circuit boards; performing preventive maintenance, cleaning and lubrication of electronic equipment, helping to install and replace electronic gadgets, using diagnostic computers and oscilloscopes in the workplace;
- Locating defects in the parts and components of a vehicle, selecting and using measurement instruments and diagnostic equipment in vehicles, performing basic service and repair activities related to car servicing, (i.e.: oil and filter change, defective parts replacement, washing of engine and other car components), car body repairing (i.e. welding, brazing, riveting, sheet metal and profiles bonding, assembly and disassembly of car body components and chassis), performing maintenance and repairs in accordance with automotive vehicles manufacturer’s technology, removing and disassembling units such as engines, transmissions or differentials, to be repaired, using hand tools and power tools.
Furthermore, they learned some Spanish language, history and culture during a Spanish course and a Malaga boat trip. They also had a great time during some visits to the amazing andalusian cities of Seville, Granada and Gibraltar.
We hope that our trainees hab learned many things during their internship and that all of this will be useful for their future work and private life.
