About This Project

In May a group of 20 students from Kielce, were hosted by euroMind in Malaga to gain a 3-weeks internship as cooks, waiters, housekeeping.
All students were working in different positions and in different companies, so every student get a unique experience. Most students were working as cooks or waiters, only two were working as housekeepers.

Depending on the place where trainees were working, the task was different and the level of responsibility too.
In general, cooks were preparing the ingredients for consumption or cooking. Washing, peeling, cutting fruit and vegetables as well as cutting meat. Checking the quality of food, tasting, smelling, punching with utensils, etc. Weighing, measuring, and mixing ingredients according to recipes and personal judgment with the use of available kitchen appliances and equipment. Adjusting the temperature of other kitchen equipment depending on the dishes being prepared. Seasoning and cooking meals according to recipes, personal judgment, or experience, using.

Housekeepers were checking if the rooms have been vacated before cleaning. Making beds daily and changing bed linen. Vacuum cleaning carpets, floors, and upholstery. Cleaning bathrooms and supplying fresh towels and toiletries. Checking and restocking tea, coffee, sugar, milk, and mini-bar supplies. Making sure that televisions, radios, lights, and air conditioning equipment are working.
Waiters were receiving, storing, and distributing raw materials. Preparing and serving the drinks and food. Developing activities and customer service. Preparing and maintaining in good condition the work area, equipment, and utensils to offer customers quality service. Running the billing processes and/or cash receipts. Tidying up, once customers have left.

At the same time as trainees had internships, they also had a lot of fun with euroMind coordinators. Students had a Malaga tour, they saw the most beautiful and interesting places in Malaga. Also, they were travelling around the Andalusian region.

The trainees had a great experience visiting Seville, the artistic, cultural, and financial capital of southern Spain. The city is a historical masterpiece full of Islamic monuments, gardens, and flamenco festivals. They quickly realized that Seville is an architectural gem due to its well-preserved monuments such as the Cathedral and Giraldo, the Royal Alcázar, and the General Archive of the Indies – all of which are UNESCO World Heritage sites.

Trip to Ronda: Ronda is a charming village located in the Andalusian mountains. During the day trip, the students were able to see the beautiful scenery surrounding Ronda including its well-preserved old town which has Arab Baths, defense walls, and small churches. The trainees also got to visit the World’s oldest bullfighting ring which is used only once a year, and they learned about the history of this controversial tradition in the bullring’s museum.

We stayed in Spain from May 15 to June 12. Upon arrival, we had free time to rest after the journey. We spent our time walking to the beach, sunbathing, and relaxing in the pool. On Monday, we went to Malaga to find out about jobs. During internships, we learn professional guest service and serve dishes. We learn to make delicious fruit smoothies and the best coffee. We visited nearby towns on weekends. On the second weekend, we visited Seville, where we were able to see the Spanish Square.
The next time we saw the beautiful bridge in Ronda, and we went to the center of Torremolinos to get
to know the city in which we live better. It was the best month of my life.

My stay in Spain was amazing. We stayed in was in Spain for the first time from May 15 to June 12. It was an amazing adventure. During our stay, we stayed at the Parasol Garden Hotel in Torremolinos.
There was a really nice atmosphere, good food and a swimming pool and playroom available. At the beginning of the internship, we learned about the methods of brewing coffee and making drinks, and we learned the secrets of Spanish cooking dishes. We had the opportunity to gain experience under the supervision of professional bartenders, cooks, and waiters. In our free time, we visited four cities in Spain – Malaga, Seville, Ronda, and Torremolinos. The views we saw there and the whole stay will be remembered for a long time.

The first week in Spain was a perfect time for getting to know and getting used to a new place. During my internship, I learned how to serve guests, how to operate a cash register, make smoothies and coffee. The atmosphere is very good, and the employees try to help us with every need. After work and on weekends we have a lot of free time, that we spend together on the beach, swimming, and sunbathing. We went on several trips during our trip. The first was to the center of Malaga, where we walked around the city. The second was Seville, where we spent most of the day looking at the city and monuments. The last trip was to Ronda, where we saw the big, historic bridge and the beautiful views.
