About This Project

In March 2022, we had the pleasure to welcome a group of 6 trainees from Greece for a two-weeks. These trainees carried out internships in the field of agriculture and Gardening in Seville. They were excited to learn new things and develop their skills.

Students working as horse breeders had their practice in a company that has a lot of experience in this sector. The centre offers classes and activities for children and adults, as well as the possibility to participate in activities in nature and therapeutic activities with horses. There are also riding courses for groups and individuals. Students’ main activities included: feeding, supplying water and examining horses, ponies and donkeys, cleaning and disinfecting the stables and work areas, taking the horses, ponies and donkeys to have a walk, brushing and untangle mane and tail of animals, preparing animal food and preparing the rest bed and animal boxes.

On the other hand, students working as gardeners worked in a company dedicated to the cultivation, production and retail and wholesale of all kinds of plants, flowers and plant products for gardens, green areas etc. Their main tasks consisted of: preparing new garden sites and plots using hand tools or machines, loading, unloading and moving gardening supplies and equipment, mowing a lawn, hoeing, weeding, digging, watering and taking care of plants, pruning plants and hedges, planting ornamental plants, ordering a place of work, labeling plants and checking the condition of plants.

One trainee worked as an IT technician, carrying out tasks like: service and management of computer hardware and electronic devices, installing the software, analysing and diagnosing hardware, solving problems related to IT hardware and software, designing and creating images with the use of programs such as Photoshop, Adobe Illustrator or Corel or installing, configuring and working with virtual machines.

The trainees also had the opportunity to travel through some extraordinary cities of Andalusia. They visited Córdoba, a picturesque city where 3 main religions mix and were also given Spanish classes to improve their communication.

Trainees not only acquired new knowledge and skills that can be useful in their future work, but also got to know the culture, cuisine, monuments and history of Spain. They met new friends and learned a lot about the inhabitants of Sevilla. We hope that the whole stay in Spain will be an unforgettable experience for them and the knowledge they gained during the practice will be useful in their future lives.

PARTICIPANTS’ OPINIONS

Vasileios Kitsios

My experience in Sevilla was unforgettable. We have been to many incredible museums with lots of things to see. The most amazing thing I think was Giralda because of the fact that we saw all the city of Sevilla from a high position. Generally, I am very satisfied with the internship – I got to work with animals and learned things that will be useful in my future. If I have the chance to come again to Sevilla I would do it without a second thought.

Dimitra Kourkouvela

Seville is a wonderful place, it has very beautiful alleys where you can walk and stare at the courtyards of the houses. I loved the monuments we visited and the architecture here. The mentality is also a bit different from what I am used to but in a good way. In the greenhouse I worked in I really liked the plants they have. The co-workers and my boss were very helpful and tried to teach us new things.

Angelos Asani

I really enjoyed my stay in Seville. The places were awesome, also the food. The culture was different from what I am used to, so I really liked it. The working environment is great with really nice and helpful people – I learned new things and gained some useful skills.
