About This Project

In May 2019 euroMind Ubeda team hosted the group of trainees from Rzemień. They were very excited to start their internships and learn more about Spanish culture. The young professionals were divided into three sectors: farmers, veterinaries and cooks.

During these three weeks of the internship the group of farmers was helping with the cultivation of olives crops, preparing the soil by hand or with a machine, spreading fertilizers and compost, selecting and sowing seeds, and planting seed-plants. They learned about different production technologies of selected food products and how to make some homemade and ecological products derived from raw material from the farm.

The group of veterinaries had a chance to work in the veterinary clinic, canine hairdresser salon and on a farm. In every of these places of internship they performed many different tasks related to taking care of animals. Among many others they were preparing the animals for the pre and post hairdressing services, assisting to the tutor with the canine haircuts and nails cuts, feeding, watering and examining animals, sterilizing laboratory and surgical equipment and providing postoperative care.

Trainees from the cooking sector worked in the restaurants gaining as much experience as possible while seasoning and cooking meals according to recipes, personal judgment or experience, using different methods (e.g. baking, braising, frying, broiling, roasting and steaming) and preparing the ingredients for consumption or cooking, washing, peeling, cutting fruit and vegetables as well as cutting meat.

While weekdays were devoted mainly to work, during the weekends it was time for the whole group to spend time together, to relax and to see some of the most visited cities in the region of Andalusia. Together with Ubeda euroMind team the group had a chance to participate in the one and only annual Festival de los Patios in Cordoba, they took the photo with Picasso in Malaga and learned about ‘mudejar’ style in Granada. Apart from these, they visited the Olive Oil Museum in Ubeda, getting to know the process of olive oil production and also took part in two workshops where they developed their creativity skills and learned how to best present themselves on the competitive labour market.

PARTICIPANTS’ OPINIONS

I really like my internship in Ubeda. At my work, it is a friendly atmosphere and tutors are very open and helpful. They taught me how to prepare traditional Spanish dishes. I also learned a lot during Spanish classes and it helped me to communicate with my tutors. The trips we had were very exciting.  It feels like home here and it’s a fantastic experience that everyone should try.

The place of my internship is very good. My tutor from the farm has a big passion for ecological agriculture. I learn a lot from him about farming. At the weekends we have many interesting activities and trips. We learn about the history and the culture of Spain. Our accommodation in the residence is very nice and above the rest, the food is really delicious!
