About This Project

At the end of November, euroMind welcomed a group of 16 Polish students to Seville for 3 weeks. Here, they gained invaluable experience working as CNC operators.

The trainees had a number of responsibilities on their work experience placements. They learnt the basics of CNC programming and manual programming using a computer, and how to operate both traditional milling and lathe machines, and CNC lathe and milling machines. They also became familiar with the health and safety requirements of a machinery workshop, as well as how to accurately control the machining process. Finally, they learnt how to design 3D parts using a computer and various different software, and about the processes the machines use to carry this out.

Furthermore, the trainees were able to experience a number of cultural activities during their time in Spain. The first of these was a tapas night, which afforded the students with the opportunity to taste local cuisine, and experience the typically Spanish social atmosphere of a tapas bar. In addition to the tapas night, the trainees also attended a Seville tour organised by euroMind, which allowed the trainees to hear a brief history of the main landmarks in the city, whilst also being shown the best places for food and drinks. The students also visited Malaga, the largest city on the Costa del Sol, which is not only a city full of sun and beaches but also a city that invites visitors to explore its architecture, monuments, history, and the life of Pablo Picasso. Here, they explored some of the monuments and architecture within the city, and at the end of the day, relaxed on Malagueta Beach by the Mediterranean Sea. Finally, the group visited Cadiz, where they explored the city centre, Cathedral, the oldest fish market in Spain, The Tavira Watchtower, the Plaza de España where the first Spanish democratic constitution was signed, and Caleta beach.

The students thoroughly enjoyed their time in Spain, and look forward to using the skills they have gained, both on their work experience placements and through their Spanish classes, in the future.

PARTICIPANTS’ OPINIONS

Hubert Michalski

I really enjoyed my work experience in Sevilla. We had an excellent teacher, he showed us how to use different computer programmes. During the experience, I developed my language and manual skills, and I think those skills will be useful for me in my future.

Jakub Paluch

During the practice I learned how to draw in 2D and 3D with specific computer programmes. Our teacher was very nice and likeable, and patiently explained how to operate the program and he helped us every time we didn’t know how to do a given exercise or when we made a mistake somewhere.
