In February 2019, we welcomed a group of 5 students from France who did their internship in the sector of social work. In Seville, students had an opportunity to choose from different care centres and nursing homes. One of thesocio-health complex, where students worked, was composed of a day centre of 50 places and a nursing home. The nursing home is designed to accommodate 177 residents. Here students were:
– Attending interviews with individuals and families to assess and observe any kind of situation
– Helping in carrying out evaluations that have to meet specified standards and timescales (sometimes in collaboration with other professionals)
– Offering information and support to elderly people and their caregivers
– Helping in the implementation and the management of support packages to enable people to lead the fullest lives possible
– Assisting in any kind of daily activities of the elderly people
– Participating in multidisciplinary meetings, for example, related to the support for elderly people and mental health promotion
– Assisting in the monitoring process to ensure that the situation of an elderly person has improved.
Another nursing centre were students were working, was one of the leading ones in Andalusia in offering care service for people with dependence and elderly people. Here throughout the day the patients can perform a wide range of activities, occupational therapy, physiotherapy, personalized rehabilitation and etc. The centre has an agreement with the Ministry for Equality and Social Welfare of the Junta de Andalucía and for that reason, it offers places for people who need more help. Here students carried tasks, such as:
– Attending interviews with individuals and families to assess and observe any kind of situation
– Assisting in the monitoring process to ensure that the situation of an elderly person has improved
