About This Project

In February 2019, we welcomed a group of 5 students from France who did their internship in the sector of social work. In Seville, students had an opportunity to choose from different care centres and nursing homes. One of thesocio-health complex, where students worked, was composed of a day centre of 50 places and a nursing home. The nursing home is designed to accommodate 177 residents. Here students were:

– Attending interviews with individuals and families to assess and observe any kind of situation

– Helping in carrying out evaluations that have to meet specified standards and timescales (sometimes in collaboration with other professionals)

– Offering information and support to elderly people and their caregivers

– Helping in the implementation and the management of support packages to enable people to lead the fullest lives possible

– Assisting in any kind of daily activities of the elderly people

– Participating in multidisciplinary meetings, for example, related to the support for elderly people and mental health promotion

– Assisting in the monitoring process to ensure that the situation of an elderly person has improved.

Another nursing centre were students were working, was one of the leading ones in Andalusia in offering care service for people with dependence and elderly people. Here throughout the day the patients can perform a wide range of activities, occupational therapy, physiotherapy, personalized rehabilitation and etc. The centre has an agreement with the Ministry for Equality and Social Welfare of the Junta de Andalucía and for that reason, it offers places for people who need more help. Here students carried tasks, such as:

– Attending interviews with individuals and families to assess and observe any kind of situation

– Assisting in the monitoring process to ensure that the situation of an elderly person has improved

Add to that, students had free time to enjoy their stay in the city and get to know the city better, also with the help of EuroMind team, students could discover Seville through different perspective by being accompanied with our tour guide and introduced with the rich history of the city.

PARTICIPANTS’ OPINIONS

Maeva Guern

In Seville, I improved a lot my professional skills carrying out many activities with the center users. Beside the difference with France in the working way, my experience has been very productive and useful. All the colleagues have been very friendly and patient with me. Seville is a very nice city. During the free time I discovered every corner of the city, I visited a lot of interesting monuments and green parks. I would like to recommend the participation in Erasmus project to everyone, this has been a very enriching trip both personally and professionally. Thank you so much for the opportunity!

During my internship I dealt with old people, dependent and not. I carried out various activities such as: accompanying them in their daily activities, helping them in taking shower, organization of entertainment activities etc. The way of working in Spain are very different from France but I can say that this experience taught me a lot both professionally and personally. I want say a big thanks to all the people who accompanied me inthis wonderful adventure. Seville is an amazing city; I’ll keep a lot of memories of this experiencehere! Thank you!
