About This Project

In October group of 16 polish students from Olsztyn, were hosted by euromind in Seville for a 3-weeks internship in different sectors. In Seville students had an opportunity to see what the gastronomy, hairdressing and store´s sector looks like in Spain. Also, trainees had different tasks which helped them to increase their knowledge.

6 students were assisting in hairdressing salones. Their main tasks included: organizing the workplace, selecting appropriate tools and supplies for hairdressers, getting acquainted with work organization, equipment, cosmetics and hair care technologies used by Spanish hairdressers, washing customers’ heads and getting it ready for cutting or other treatments required and ssisting in hair lightening and discoloration using the modern techniques and hairdressing utensils.

8 students who practiced cooking had an amazing opportunity to see how spanish food is being made traditionally. Trainees were working on different tasks, such as -washing, peeling, cutting fruit, vegetables and meat. They also helped in weighing, measuring and mixing ingredients according to recipes and personal judgment with the use of available kitchen appliances and equipment.

2 students working as shop assistants were organizing the storage process by activity and goods volume, optimizing space and handling times, as well as helping to unpack and set prices in the goods which are on the packets/boxes. Their practice took place in clothing stores.

While being in Spain, students could also take part in some amusing cultural activities, such as: tour around Seville city center and Tapas Night. They also visited two andalusian cities: Cadiz and Malaga and learned basics of spanish language during very intensive spanish lessons with our spanish teacher.

The trainees had a great experience in a walking tour around Seville, the artistic, cultural, and financial capital of southern Spain. The city is a historical masterpiece full of Islamic monuments, gardens, and flamenco festivals. They quickly realized that Seville is considered to be an architectural gem due to its well-preserved monuments such as the Cathedral and Giralda, the Royal Alcázar, and the General Archive of the Indies – all of which are UNESCO World Heritage sites. The trainees were astonished by all the above-mentioned places as well as the beautiful square Plaza de España that has been used as a filming location in the Star Wars movies.

The trainees were able to participate in the Tapas Night which was a wonderful opportunity to taste the local cuisine, meet euroMind’s team and have lots of fun. Tapas are small portions of various types of typical Spanish food served with a drink. The euroMind team took the participants to a local bar and let them experience a little bit of the typically Spanish socialable atmosphere while tasting some Andalusian specialties. The tapas night was located in the most relaxed place in the whole city, where all young people from the city tend to spend their free time.

Euromind team did their best to deliver the best professional and cultural experience to the trainees of the project being always ready to help, give advice and solve any problems or doubts. The internship has not only been a time to develop knowledge of the sector but also to learn Spanish, get to know a completely different culture, make new friends and develop interpersonal skills. We hope that all of this will be an unforgettable memory for our interns and that in the future they will be able to take advantage of everything they have learned during their stay.

PARTICIPANTS’ OPINIONS

Milena Nawrocka

Working in a hairdressing salon gave me a lot of experience. I had the opportunity to see how hairdressers work and also work with clients myself. This salon has a nice atmosphere, the people working there are nice and polite to me.

Patrycja Kulesza

I am very satisfied with my internship with Elena Navarro. What I like the most is the contact with the client and the speed of service provision. I told the boss that I would be 18 in a year, she told me to come to Spain to work for her, so I think I will be happy to come back here.

Zuzanna Graczyk

It is okay to work here. The boss is nice and so are the rest of the staff. If I can not get along with them normally, we write to the translator on Google or we get along by sign. And they often ask if I am hungry or if I want a drink.
