About This Project

In January 2019 we have been hosting trainees from Braniewo – the town on the east of Poland.

The students of the carpentry field were learning how to carry out the furniture’s production in an artisan way, starting from the client’s idea, and offering different propositions of materials and last details. For that, they make a sketch for the client to have an idea of how the final result will be, and then they transfer it into the wood. In addition, they differentiate themselves within the field because they apart from creating wood pieces, then they are able to assemble them.

Our hotel employees were gaining their professional experience in different hotels that have been declared a UNESCO World Heritage Site. They were practice:
– Checking if the rooms have been vacated before cleaning
– Making beds daily and changing bed linen
– Vacuum cleaning carpets, floors, and upholstery
– Cleaning bathrooms and supplying fresh towels and toiletries
– Checking and restocking tea, coffee, sugar, milk, and minibar supplies
– Making sure that televisions, radios, lights and air conditioning equipment are working
– Reporting to a supervisor when articles are left behind by guests, if there is any damage in the rooms or if any items appear to have been stolen

The logistics could learn how to identify the structure and the organization of the company relating them to the type of service provided, how to apply inventory management methods, make predictions of goods and materials requirements in production and supply systems; to organize the storage process by activity and goods volume, optimizing space and handling times or to provide promotional flyers distribution etc.

The cooks are now able to recognize and use basic sector-related vocabulary, they recognize typical Spanish cuisine and local specialties, they are familiar with the organization of work in a kitchen, they also know how to prepare Spanish dishes according to the recipes and local specialties served at the restaurant etc.

They had been at the trips in Malaga and Cordoba. That was a wonderful time!

PARTICIPANTS’ OPINIONS

Aleksandra Werbowa

I like my internship a lot! I have learned a lot of new skills, by working with Raul and Antonio – our tutors who know everything about the wood! They explain to us a lot of new facts and they show us some Spanish professional words. I will remember forever our wonderful trips to Malaga and Cordoba and Spanish classes with Monica and dissemination classes with Lena. They were taking really good care of us during our stay. I liked a lot our stay! I recommend it totally.

I had practical training in a pet shop. Mu tutor Enrique was very nice and helpful. He had a lot of patience with me. My co-worker was Maria-Jose. She is very warm and kind. She taught me everything about animal care. On a trip to Malaga, I was delighted by Alcazabas gardens and a very beautiful beach. Narrow streets full of flowers in Cordoba were breath-taking. The residence in Ubeda was spacious and cozy. Here we had everything we needed to be happy and safe. Our cooks, Pepi and Juani, surprised us with local and delicious dishes. Our coordinators, Lena and Monica showed us the local Spanish culture and charm of Ubeda. All the time I am trying hard to learn Spanish, and I am glad to see the progress.

Anna Kopańska

I am extremely happy with my practice. I learned here new skills: how to cook traditional Spanish food, how to prepare it and how to work in a team. My tutor – Ana and co-worker – Ramon, are very nice, helpful and very friendly! We have a lot in common, especially if it goes about the music! Spanish lessons are really useful, as we learn a lot here with Monica – she taught us not only how to speak Spanish but also told us some useful facts about Spanish culture! We had two trips: to Malaga and Cordoba. We spend a wonderful time there and we saw a lot of beautiful places. In a residence, we had a pleasure to try delicious Spanish food prepared by our great cooks: Juani and Pepi. I really like being here and I am gonna miss this.
