In February, 2019, we had a pleasure to welcome students from Poland for 3 weeks and give them opportunities to work in different companies in Seville. Students were willing to work in sectors like housekeeping, hospitality, administration, landscape architecture and logistics. The students of tourism, hospitality and administration showed interest in working in hotels and stores. All of the hotels were high class and located in the city center. Here students could work in the administration and reception and do tasks, such as:
– Receiving and welcoming all clients upon entering the hotel
– Supporting the receptionists help with check in / out, telephone, insert invoices, etc … and other departments
– Interacting with the client in everything they need (information, help, stay etc)
– Participating in all those activities, functions or tasks of the company in which their collaboration is required
Students who worked as housekeepers were:
– Checking if the rooms have been vacated before cleaning
– Vacuum cleaning carpets, floors, and upholstery
– Cleaning bathrooms and supplying fresh towels and toiletries
– Making sure that televisions, radios, lights and air conditioning equipment are working
– Reporting to a supervisor when articles are left behind by guests, if there is any damage in the rooms or if any items appear to have been stolen
A group of logistics students did their internship in clothing shops, where they were responsible for moving pallets and boxes to the store with the use of manual pallet truck, sorting products, removing and placing products in the shop, marking and updating the prices of products, supporting the data collection system and etc.
Another part of students, who were keen on learning more about landscape architecture, had an opportunity to work in a company, where they were:
– Preparing new garden sites and plots using hand tools or machines
– Loading, unloading and moving gardening supplies and equipment
– Mowing a lawn, planting ornamental plants
– Hoeing, weeding, digging
– Watering and taking care of plants
– Pruning plants and hedges
Besides the work placement, students had many other activities, including short, intense but dynamic Spanish course. Moreover, the EuroMind team organized many different cultural activities, such as flamenco show, Seville city tour or trips to other cities in Spain, like Cadiz or Cordoba, where students could discover and explore more cultural sites and experience the real culture of Spain!
