In May, Euromind greeted a group of 20 polish students to gain experience in the fields of hairdressing and dressmaking according to their preference. They all could work in Spanish companies to learn more about these sectors for four weeks.
Half of the group decided to do the internship in hairdresser’s salons. They were mainly organizing the workplace, selecting appropriate tools and supplies for hairdressers, getting acquainted with work organization and equipment used by Spanish hairdressers, getting acquainted with the cosmetics and hair care technologies used by Spanish hairdressers, using sterilization procedures of hairdressing utensils, washing customers’ heads and getting it ready for cutting or other treatments required, assisting in hair lightening and discoloration using the modern techniques and hairdressing utensils, assisting in the performance of hair treatments, haircuts, and hairstyles.
10 others students worked as dressmakers. They had the opportunity to develop their skills doing some tasks such as fitting, altering, repairing, and making the tailor-made clothing, according to customers and clothing manufacturers specifications and fit , applying principles of garment design and stylization, repairing or replacing defective garment parts such as pockets, zippers, snaps, buttons, and linings, making various types of garments, such as dresses, suits and flamenco dresses, according to customer specifications and measurements, positioning and cutting sections, such as collar, sleeve, or waist according to the model, cutting fabric with scissors according to the pattern, sews fabric parts by hand or operates single-needle sewing machine that joins fabric parts to form a garment, ironing clothes, using the iron to soften seams and remove creases…
Besides the work placement, the group had guided Seville city tour and a dynamic Spanish language course. They also went to Tavira, Cordoba and Granada All in all, the project was successful and it was our pleasure to collaborate with students!
