About This Project

In the first half of February, a group of 15 Bulgarian trainees came to Ubeda for an internship. The trainees worked in car workshops, IT establishments and local factories as mechatronics technicians. They spent two weeks in this welcoming city and they had the opportunity to experience Spanish, Andalusian and local culture.

The car mechanics learnt how to use different tools in vehicle workshops, how to identify car issues, how to repair them and how to work under pressure.

The mechatronics technicians did their internships in local factories. The main industry in Ubeda is olive oil and agricultural machines since the province is the main producer of olive oil in the world due to its large numbers of olive trees. Therefore, the Bulgarian trainees could develop their knowledge as mechatronic technicians in this specific field.

Finally, the IT specialists were able to learn how local IT establishments worked and put into practice the knowledge they had acquired at school.

During the time here, the trainees were also able to completely immerse themselves into the local culture. For example, the trainees had a guided tour of Ubeda and learnt more about the city, which is a UNESCO world heritage site.

They also visited the beautiful city of Granada, where they could take pictures of the most visited monument in Spain, the Alhambra. As well as learning about Granada’s history and culture, the trainees visited the Science Park, the first interactive science museum in Andalusia. They enjoyed looking at the impressive exhibitions about robotics, human systems and the natural environment.

This was a wonderful experience for the trainees since they learnt more about Spanish culture and developed their professional skills in a great environment and learned from each other.
