In September euroMind team in Úbeda welcomed a group from Zespół Szkół nr 2 im. Ks. Jana Długosza in Kłobuck. They came to Spain for a four-week internship. It was diverse group of cooks, car mechanics, shop assistants, hairdressers, electrician and dressmaker who worked in many companies in the city.
The cooks were learning about typical Spanish cuisine and local specialties. They were also weighing, measuring and mixing ingredients according to recipes and personal judgment with the use of available kitchen appliances and equipment. On the other hand, the hairdressers were assisting in hair lightening and discoloration using the modern techniques and hairdressing utensils. Moreover, they were washing customers’ heads and getting it ready for cutting or other treatments required.
Sewing fabric parts by hand or sewing machine to join fabric parts to make a flamenco dress was the main task of our dressmaker. Shop assistants were organizing the storage process by activity and goods volume, optimizing space and handling times, as well as helping to unpack and set prices in the goods which are on the packets/boxes. The mechanics were providing appropriate car care and examining tires and brakes for defects to ensure a proper functioning on the road. Last but not least, our electrician, was repairing and installing components of light system by applying appropriate techniques and procedures.
Apart from their practices, they also had a possibility to travel around Andalusia region: their first trip was to Nerja “a pleasure for the senses”, its famous Caves of Nerja, its Balcony of Europe and its splendid beaches make this place unforgettable, the students of Kłobuck knew how to take advantage of their free day on the beach. They also visited Frigiliana, the only place in Europe where sugar cane honey is produced. The next weekend, the group visited Granada with the Alhambra´s gardens. They took part in three workshops: “Flamenco dance”, “My image in the labour market” and “Hairstyles”. Trainees couldn’t come back to Poland without visiting the Center of Olive Oil in Úbeda.
For each of the students the internship in Spain was unforgettable experience which helped them improve their skills but also make friends and get to know Spanish culture. Some of them will definitely come back here soon!

Internships in Spain are an interesting experience, I learned new techniques for cutting, hair styling, hairstyles, and dyeing. The living room has a nice atmosphere. Even if I can’t do something, my boss and employee show me how to properly perform a given task, e.g. modeling or washing the client’s head. I liked the internship program very much and I think I learned a lot and learned a different way of working as a hairdresser.

Time spent in the hairdressing salon passed very quickly. The first days were difficult due to the lack of Spanish language skills. But every day I learned more and more. My tutor showed me some new techniques for modeling, drying, and styling hair, which I will definitely use in Poland. My tutor and other clients created a nice atmosphere. I also had a chance to practice my manicure and pedicure skills using professional equipment. These four weeks of traineeship in Ubeda were the best.

This internship was a great time during which I learned a lot. My tutor and other colleagues were amazing and very helpful. This experience helped me to open my eyes and see new perspectives in my life. My supervisor taught me many useful things related to the profession of an electrician and sector of electronics. I would like to stay in Spain and continue to work at my company because it felt at home there.
