About This Project

Slovak trainees have discovered the beauty of Úbeda thanks to the Erasmus+ mobility project carried out by “Stredná odborná odborná škola ekonomiky, hotelierstva a služieb Jána Andraščíka” from Bardejov.

The students were mainly from the hospitality and nutrition sector. Úbeda, due to its cultural attractiveness, has an interesting hotel infrastructure. In this sense, these students were able to work in hotels as waitresses and chambermaids.

In addition, two nutritionists worked in a nursery preparing menus for children from 1 to 3 years old and monitoring their diets.

In their free time, they not only enjoyed the Andalusian climate, but also participated in a Spanish Cultural and Linguistic Programme and tasted the local gastronomy. They also visited the capital of the Costa del Sol, Malaga.

We hope that they will remember this experience for the rest of their lives and that they will use the knowledge gained in their future professional careers.

PARTICIPANTS’ OPINIONS

My experience in Úbeda gave me a lot. I learned a lot of things, for example Úbeda and Baeza are the best example of Spanish Renaissance cities. Somehow Úbeda reminds me to the city where I live: small, historical, in Unesco World Heritage List. In my internships I met nice people who had time for everything and were not so much in rush which was something I really appreciated because in my country everybody is hurry, doing everything fast because “we do not have time”. My favourite thing about my time spent in Spain was the trip to Malaga. The view was unbelievable and I really believe this is not my last time in Spain. Gracias.

The place we are in is very beautiful. People in our work are nice and hardworking. Jesika and I really liked them. Preparing meals for children is very interesting. We have fun with the children and learn English. We sing and have fun. We are glad for these experiences with children, which we will certainly use in the future.

I always knew that working in a hotel is a demanding business. Now I am glad that I could try it in practice in Spain. All the people here are nice and very helpful. There was a language barrier, but we could always somehow understand each other. The hotel is very beautiful, clean and beautifully preserved. Our accomodation’s food is excellent and really tasty. Úbeda is also a beautiful city and I hope that I will definitely come back here one day and get to know the Spanish culture much more than I did.
