About This Project

What to expect from trainees coming from Count Dracula’s country? Luckily for us, only good things! We had the joy to host this group of 16 Romanian mobile app developers for two weeks in May 2017. The trainees worked at a local vocational school and received only good results from their tutor. They also all had the opportunity to develop their skills and knowledge carrying out tasks such as:

  • Basic architecture of device and Android system (software emulators for virtual mobile devices);
  • The process of creating and running software projects for Android: installation and configuration of ECLIPSE environment;
  • Implementation of the system of switching between the two screens designed applications: data transfer
  • Testing the application template on the emulator and on the device. Processes: run, debug, transfer (import) applications;
  • Designing components of user interface in mobile application – using templates;
  • Designing navigation system in mobile apps: menu options, contextual menu items SlideMenu and NavigationDrawer, tabs; – Usage of the built-in hardware components of mobile devices application such as: camera, camcorder, media player, GPS receiver, compass, stopwatch;

Apart from that, the trainees took part in several nice cultural activities: they enjoyed a guided city tour, went on a river cruise, tasted the local food during tapas night, assisted to a flamenco show and learnt how to dance the traditional dance, visited the royal bullring, and visited the cities of Cordoba (Andalusia) and Tavira (Portugal)! We hope they had an interesting time here and wish them all the best.

PARTICIPANTS’ OPINIONS

Cristian Sirbu:

‘The Erasmus project was a unique and amazing experience and I am very thankful for being able to take part of it. I met great people, such as Natalia, or Miguel Campos Rivera, two of the nicest people I’ve ever met. The last day of our project was great and unique but also very sad. I’m saying sad because we had to tell Natalia and Miguel goodbye. Then we went for our last time, for our Android programming session where we practiced how to create a SQL shell database, and many other things that I will miss. This project has remarked me and will help me a lot in my future programmer career. This project laid the foundations for my career. I enjoyed this project and I hope I could take part in another one again very soon.’

Daniel Mihai Zahiu:

‘These 2 weeks spent in Seville have proven to represent a good way of discovering new things and of discovering myself. Firstly, I must say that I feel honored to take part in such an extraordinary project which gave me the opportunity of gaining knowledge in the Android Studio. With goods and bads, errors and debugs, patience and a burning desire of discovering just a small part of what the life of a mobile apps programmer looks like, my stay in Seville definitely worth my time. Second of all, I can undoubtedly say that I have discovered a part of the world which I never thought to be so beautiful. Seville offered me my perfect kind of weather, a perfect atmosphere and a community that always acts friendly when asking for directions. Moreover, sightseeing such as Plaza de Toro, Real Alcazar de Sevilla or La Catedral de Sevilla really impressed me and I hope that I will get the opportunity of visiting them again soon. Those being said, I would also like to express my appreciation for all the members of the Euromind team who treated us very well.’
