In September, a group of 18 students from Tadeusz Kosciuszko School Complex No. 1 in Krasnystaw came to Ubeda to develop a 3-week internship in their profession as economists, cooks, car mechanics and CNC mechanics.
The economists worked in offices, with concentration sorting documents and entering them into the system. Filling in invoices and operating various office equipment, as well as working efficiently with office software, they learned Spanish in practice. Cooks worked in restaurants full of guests preparing Spanish dishes. They had the opportunity to taste new flavors and learn new recipes. Restaurant owners were eager to share their knowledge and skills with trainees, showing them various traditional dishes from Spain. Car mechanics dealt with the maintenance and repair of various cars, sometimes came across such brands as Ferrari, dealt with computer diagnostics, replacement of fluids and oils. Employers were happy to answer any questions to trainees and provide assistance at work. CNC mechanics performed work with various types of metals and steel using tools such as bending machines and cutting machines. They had many tasks in assembling modules for machines that were inspected and shipped to customers. Their tutors were very pleased with their job.
The trainees also had the opportunity to travel through some extraordinary cities of Andalusia. They visited Granada, its palaces full of beautiful fortresses, gardens with unusual species of flowers and plants, and they also entered through the narrow streets of an ancient Muslim town. The highlightest visit during this trip was a brief encounter with history at the Alhambra Museum located in the Palace of Charles V, where they learned not only about the history but also about the ancient art and architecture of the Alhambra palaces.
They also visited Malaga and its hot beach “Malagueta”, full of all sorts of treasures in the form of rocks and shells on the shore. They had a little excursion to a panorama point from where they could look out over Malaga harbor with beautiful yachts ready to cruise. They also admired the Cathedral in Málaga, and listened to its beautiful bell.
In Úbeda, apart from visiting the city through a tour carry out by an Euromind coordinator, they took part in a flamenco workshop where they learned the basic steps of this typical Spanish dance. In addition, the trainees took part in a cultural activity called “tapas night” where they could taste the local cuisine in a relaxed atmosphere.
Trainees not only acquired new knowledge and skills that can be useful in their future work, but also got to know the culture, cuisine, monuments and history of Spain. They met new friends and learned a lot about the inhabitants of Úbeda. We hope that the whole stay in Spain will be an unforgettable experience for them and the knowledge they gained during the practice will be useful in their future lives.

The company where I am doing my internshipis a company that produces food for weddings that take place all over Spain. It is a very friendly company especially for foreign interns because the staff and bosses are always there to help and worry about their interns. I really like going to the apprenticeship because there is a very nice and family atmosphere, people are nice and helpful. I feel really nice when they try to speak to us in Polish. When we don’t understand something they always help us by explaining it in a funny way to calm down the atmosphere.

Thanks to the internship at my car workshop, I gained new knowledge and information about car repair techniques and improved my skills. The workshop is very well-equipped. All the workers are very nice, and I didn’t feel afraid to speak to them in a foreign language, and they also helped me when I had difficulties.

The company where I am doing my internship is a company that mainly deals with electronics repair and sales, the working atmosphere is very pleasant, and the staff is understanding. As a trainee in this company I was very welcomed and all my tasks were thoroughly explained and demonstrated. In any situation with which I had problems, I could easily ask for help from an employee, and he was happy to explain everything to me. I enjoyed my internship there, and I acquired a lot of useful skills, and I am very satisfied.
