About This Project

In October 2017, we had the pleasure to host 10 trainees from Konin (Poland) who spent their time in Seville to do a formative work-experience as Geodetic Surveyors. During their internship, they developed their professional abilities in the fields of Gardening, Geodesy and Outdoor Practical Work (construction layouts, topographical boundaries, subdivision design, title and boundary surveys, unitization surveying, road and bridge construction, geodetic control surveys, digitizing, map reproduction and preparation, wetlands delineation, etc.), carrying out several tasks, such as:

  • Calculating the different types of coordinates;
  • Designing, drawing, measuring and calculating local network bases and local topographic networks;
  • Create topographic bases, reviews and reports;
  • Get to know different instruments to know create a Digital Terrain Model;
  • Make the stages of a topographic project;
  • Take readings of bases, slope changes and interest points of the project;
  • Import data from EXCEL into AutoCAD;
  • Get to know the working methodology of the town hall engineers.

Furthermore, they learned the Spanish language during a Spanish course, a Seville Tour and a Flamenco Show. They could also have a great time during trips to the Malaga and Cadiz.

We hope that our trainees had fun and that they learned many things that will be useful for their future work and private life.

PARTICIPANTS’ OPINIONS

‘Thanks to my coordinator Jakub who did his best, I could understand a the two-week plan of my apprenticeship which was given to our group by our supervisor Raul. Speaking of him, he taught me a few new things which will be helpful for my future job or even life. It’s worth to mention Maria who was my Spanish teacher and taught me basics of Spanish by doing it in a funny way. I also visited Cadiz and Malaga with Jakub and I found out a lot of curiosities about history and culture of these cities. Last two weeks I will remember to the rest of my life and I am so glad that Erasmus + let me take a part in this project.’

‘The Erasmus + program has given me the opportunity to expand and gain new skills in my career. Raul our supervisor shared his knowledge and experience with us very well. The project allowed me to learn the culture and beauty of Spain, to see many charming places, and interesting information presented by the group coordinator-Jakub Kubicki who showed great commitment. I was able to try the local dishes and thanks to Maria in an unconventional way to learn the basics of Spanish. Staying in Seville will always remain in my memory.’

‘My apprenticeship in Sevilla was one of the best opportunities for learning about the way of working in Spain. Thanks to this possibility I worked in majestic Maria Luise’s park. My supervisor Raul did his best to teach me new stuff. I think that it’s worth mentioning our coordinator Jakub who did his best to ensure us the best stay. We had trips with him and he told us about all the history of the cities and places, he shared with us his experience. Maria, my Spanish language teacher, thought me basic Spanish language and gave a lot of information about Spanish culture. I learned a lot from her.  I would rate the whole stay as very successful and I don’t regret any moment that I spent here.’
