About This Project

In January, euroMind welcomed a group of 15 students to Seville for two weeks to carry out work experience placements as CNC Operators.

On their placement, the group learnt the basics of CNC programming, and also manual programming using a computer. They then learnt about the machining process, how to control it, and how to use it and various software to create simulations, and design and fabricate 3D parts. Furthermore, the students became familiar with operating the CNC lathe and milling machines, as well as their traditional counterparts. Finally, the students got to know the health and safety requirements of a machinery workshop, and how to apply these in practice.

Beyond the daily activities and responsibilities of their placements, the group also participated in various cultural activities. The first of which was a paella night, where the students were able to create their own version of the traditional Andalusian specialty, while being supervised by a professional chef. The students also attended a tapas night, which allowed them to experience the typically Spanish social atmosphere of a tapas bar, while sampling a number of local specialties. Finally, the group received a tour of Seville from a member of the euroMind team, which showed them the most important historical and artistic aspects and landmarks of the city, as well as pointing out the best places to go for food and drinks.

The group feel they have benefitted hugely from the opportunity to educate themselves globally, including immersion in another language and culture as well as learning how CNC operators work in Seville, and intend to apply the skills they have gained to their work and lives when they return to Poland.

PARTICIPANTS’ OPINIONS

Jakub Juroszek

Thanks to participation in the project, I was able to learn how to create three-dimensional projects, which will certainly be useful for further work in the profession. Thanks to the fact that the internships took place in the beautiful city of Seville, I met local cuisine, beautiful monuments and interesting culture.
