About This Project

For three weeks in May/June 2017, we had the pleasure to have this group from Poland with us. The 18 youngsters worked at local Sevillian companies as cooks, stock boys, logisticians, IT technicians and housekeepers. They carried out tasks such as:

  • Moving pallets and boxes to the store
  • Carrying out loading operations that effect the control and organization of the distribution of goods to be transported
  • Installing, assembling and upgrading hardware
  • Determining the cause of the fault and the required spare parts for intervention
  • Making beds daily and changing bed linen.
  • Seasoning and cooking meals according to recipes, personal judgment or experience, using different methods (e.g. baking, braising, frying, broiling, roasting and steaming)

Luckily, the three weeks allowed the trainees plenty of time to discover al the regional beauties! The trainees went to Cordoba, Ronda ánd Tavira, went on a bike tour in Seville, visited the bullring and learnt to make themselves understandable in Spanish during their language classes!

PARTICIPANTS’ OPINIONS

Mateusz Wilk

Mateusz Wilk:

‘Hello! I’m Mateusz and I’m 17 years old. I’m from Poland. I’m working at Guadalquivir with Sandra. I’m really enjoying working there, because of many reasons, mostly due to the incredible atmosphere. My coworkers are nice, helpful and talented. My boss is charitable and really funny. Unfortunately, the crew doesn’t speak English. I’m learning how to make various dishes. Recently I’ve learnt how to make Spanish dishes. At work, I’m cooking and helping to serve customers. Sevilla is a stunning city with lots of magnificent monuments. Spanish people are whole-hearted, positive and friendly. I fell in love with Sevilla. I’m so glad that I had the opportunity to come here. If I could, I would stay here forever.’

Szymon Szczepaniak

Szymon Szczepaniak:

‘Hi! My name is Szymon, I’m 17 years old and I’m from Poland. This work has made me aware of the rules of the logistics company. The atmosphere at work is very positive and loose. At work, first of all I load packages onto the bus, after this I’m going to the office and I’m scanning documents and doing other office things. This practice gave me a lot of experience and confidence. I really liked working at this company.’
