About This Project

In December 2017, a group of 16 students from Przemyśl (Poland) spent their time in Seville for an internship as solar energy installers. They learned more about renewable energies and participated in theoretical and practical training courses, developing their knowledge and skills and carrying out several tasks, such as:

  • Recognizing the qualities of solar energy (and the risks of working with it) and the types of photovoltaic cells: polycrystalline, monocrystalline and amorphous.
  • Measuring voltage and current and using a multimeter according to the inclination grade.
  • Gathering the panels in series and in parallel, and checking its parameters.
  • Recognizing and identifying different types of controllers, its programming and functioning.
  • Checking, identifying and maintaining the batteries and the inverters.
  • Assembling, calculating and designing a solar installation on a computer, an electrical panel, AC power circuits and solar circuits of the house, plumbing installation with the solar pump and a solar lamp with twilight switch.

Moreover, they learned some Andalusian cultural and historical features during a Spanish course, a Seville tour,a Bike tour and a Seville Guadalquivir River cruise (with a special study visit to the modern monument Metropol Parasol-Las Setas), as well as taste some Spanish delicacies during a Tapas Night. They also had the chance to do a study visit in an international company that applies innovative technology solutions for sustainability in the energy and environment sectors, where they broaden their knowledge about thermo-solar technologies and its uses in the human development. Apart from that, they also visited the beautiful cities of Malaga and Gibraltar.

We hope that our trainees learned a lot, both about their field of study and their personal training experience in a foreign country. We wish them all the best for their future like and work.

‘Firstly, I would like to thank the best coordinator (Jakub) who looked after us the best he was able to. He organized the time for us 100%. He granted all our requests. He cared for us so that everyone has the best memories from the stay in Seville. The learning of Spanish with Mari and with games helped us to at quickly learn the Spanish language. The work and practice were very pleasant. Thanks to our teacher (Javier), we learned many new things. I will remember the time spent here fondly.’

Daniel Słowakiewicz:

‘Thanks to the internship in Spain, my experience with the subject of solar energy has increased. Also, I gained more valuable knowledge during the internship, thanks to our teacher Javier and coordinator Kuba. We learned much about the technology behind the photovoltaic panels. Living in Inturjoven was a dream, the food was excellent. Both trips to Malaga and Gibraltar were wonderful, the monkeys from Gibraltar made a huge impression on me. The city of Seville has a lot of beautiful monuments. The trips all around Seville were amazing! Thanks to our guides, I learned much about the history and traditions of Seville. I saw many places such as Torre Del Oro, Aquarium of Seville and Plaza de España. Thanks to our coordinator Kuba we had a great time and a pleasant journey along the trips. With the help of our Spanish teachers Maria and Sheyma I learned a lot of Spanish. Overall I had a great time here.’

‘The possibility of going to a foreign internship to Spain was an amazing experience for me. From the very beginning I was very excited about this fact. The city made an amazing impression on me and the Spanish culture was amazing. The whole trip was very well organized and the people I worked with were very kind and helpful. Our teacher Javier taught me many useful things needed in my profession. He taught us with optimism and a smile. Staying in Seville also offered an abundance of attractions. I had the pleasure to see the city and to visit Malaga and Gibraltar. It was amazing. For 2 weeks I met a lot of great people. I am sad that this adventure comes to an end, but on the other hand I am also very lucky that I managed to come here. I would like to thank our coordinator Kuba who fulfilled all our wishes. You’re the best. I will NEVER forget these 2 weeks. It has been the best time ever!!!!’
